LASEXTA PREMIERES A NEW EDITION OF THE HIT QUIZ SHOW ‘WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?’ ON 25TH MARCH
The iconic quiz show returns with brand-new episodes, featuring both celebrity contestants and anonymous participants.
‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ is back on laSexta with an exciting new season, premiering on Tuesday, 25th March at 22:45. This edition will once again feature a mix of celebrity and anonymous contestants, all vying for the highly coveted one-million-euro jackpot.
Following the success of previous seasons, the show returns, combining two of its most popular formats: episodes with anonymous contestants, the format that made it a global phenomenon, and celebrity specials, which have been a hit on TV in recent years. This season’s celebrity contestants include Antonio de la Torre, Raquel Sánchez Silva, Alberto Contador, Mamen Mendizábal, Ruth Lorenzo, and Pablo Carbonell.
Once again, Juanra Bonet takes centre stage, guiding contestants through the intense journey to win the show’s million-euro grand prize.
A proven success in prime time
Produced by Atresmedia Televisión in collaboration with Warner Bros. ITVP España, ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ returns to laSexta’s prime-time lineup after a triumphant previous season. The show not only led its slot ahead of its closest competitor but also became one of the most-watched entertainment programmes on the channel. Last season, it averaged a 5.7% audience share, attracting 550,000 viewers and reaching a total of 2 million unique viewers each week.
Among its strongest performances, the show stood out in the Commercial Target (6.3%) and among viewers aged 25-34 (7.9%), where it ranked as the second most-watched programme on TV, as well as in the 35-44 age group (7.7%).
A global television icon
‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ has secured its place in television history. A Sony Pictures Television format, it has been adapted in over 170 countries since its UK debut in 1998. The show has also received more than 65 international awards, including a BAFTA, an Emmy, and seven National Television Awards in the UK.
Juanra Bonet at the helm
A familiar face in Spanish entertainment, Juanra Bonet has been a key figure at Atresmedia since 2014, when he took the reins of the daily quiz show ‘¡Boom!’. Previously, he appeared on hit shows such as ‘El Intermedio’ and ‘Caiga Quien Caiga’.
Bonet has solidified his reputation as a leading entertainment host in Spain. In addition to his work on ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’, he co-hosted the live shows of ‘La Voz’ alongside Eva González, led ‘El Círculo de los Famosos’, participated as a contestant on ‘Tu Cara Me Suena’, and is set to host Antena 3’s new show ‘Traitors’.
15 questions to win it all
With a one-million-euro jackpot at stake, contestants will battle through 15 challenging questions, each with four possible answers. While anonymous players compete to fulfil their dream of becoming millionaires, celebrity participants aim to win for charity.
Success requires more than just knowledge—contestants must also navigate their emotions, manage risk, and develop the right strategies to climb the prize ladder. With each correct answer, the prize fund increases, culminating in the ultimate challenge: the final million-euro question that could change a contestant’s life forever.
